You may hear us chat about wanting to bring the quirky and nontraditional bride something to covet and fulfill her bridal style dreams with regards to wedding dresses. But how’s about we walk on the wild side with these 12 non-traditional wedding hairstyles?
Let’s jump right in and talk about colored hair. And not colored like normal, but those silvery blues and pinks we’ve been seeing all over the blogs, magazines, in our shop and on Instagram. A light pink dye can do just the trick if you’re brave enough to accomplish that signature and unique bridal style. And with colored pink hair like this one above, you might not need any adornments in your hair at all.
Whitney Port’s wedding gown and hair was all unique and of course (she’s a fashion designer!) was gorgeous! Simplicity was key with her hair in this low flip bun with a few leaves sticking out in comparison with her lace long sleeved high-low bridal gown. STUNNING!
We see braids all the time, but what about a fishtail braid? We’ve seen the messy, the full, the traditional, but how many fishtails have you seen right? If you need a little bit more to your look, we like the idea of keeping the floral crown like this one. The whole look is very sweet and charming.
A bohemian bride is nothing we haven’t seen for awhile, but we certainly love that free spirit and zest for life! This bohemian hairstyle though doesn’t leave just the hair down with wavy curls. The look also has some bohemian bejeweled sass with this tri-chain headpiece. Really an awesome look if that fits your style.
We picked this style of a low pony and floral crown because we feel that we don’t usually see anything quite this simple. You know you’ve seen braids with floral crowns or low chignons, but there is something very intriguing about just a simple low pony and a crown of blooms. Simple, easy, and gorgeous.
Au naturale and free!! LOVE Solange Knowles bridal style! Talk about being unique! Everyone’s hair is different and works and lays, and straightens, and curls differently. How beautiful is that?! If you’re not afraid to let go a little, you can’t go much more uniquely you than letting your hair down and go free.
I think for most of us girls, we love the idea of having a crown on our heads. Your wedding day is special and to wear a crown is your bell at the ball moment. We think this tulle tiara is a fantastic look and can be worn with a more modern trendy styled gown to off set that princessy look if that’s not what you’re going for. Still a really cool and nontraditional of course, way to style your hair.
Hot pink, and we mean HOT pink, hair all done up and glamorous, is without a doubt nontraditional but also gives the sense that you are you and that is so special. You are daring and confident, strong and compassionate, and just very passionate too. LOVE.
If you can’t decide between a braid, a bun, or a crown, this might work! Putting all three of these hairstyles together to make a braided crown bun might have first seemed way too much, but we are excited about how retro, stylish, and preppy this looks. Definitely a great option for a nontraditional bride.

To master a whispy pinned up slightly Gatsby style is a lot harder to manage than it looks! Lots of bobbi pins, but the overall look is a smash hit! We love love LOVE that she made her look unique with an addition of a headpiece. Very Daisy from THE GREAT GATSBY!
We adore this designer chignon style with a very unique bridal veil to go along with it. Sometimes, it’s what veil you choose to make your look unique.
Any other nontraditional styles you know of that we didn’t include? Let us know, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
